淡いピンク色の蓮を涙型のガラスの中に描きました。
蓮は大好きなモチーフ。
今回のガラス作品は下部の半球体の部分から水を吸い上げ永久に咲き続ける睡蓮花をイメージしています。
春めいた爽やかな色合いがこれからの時期着けやすいですね。


ボロシリケイトガラス(パイレックス)と言われる耐熱強化ガラスを使用して制作しています。
透明度が非常に高いこのガラスは差し込む光の色や角度によって色合いや見え方が変わります。

従来の工芸用ガラスよりも硬質のため、エアバーナーよりも高温となる酸素バーナーを使い、約2500℃の炎の中で作業しています。真っ白に熱せられたガラスが冷え始めるとガラス本来の輝きがそこに現れ作品は誕生します。
